The NFL Alumni last fall launched a partnership with the Dental Lifeline Network (DLN) to help many Alumni members and their families lead healthy and productive lives.
The Network’s Donated Dental Services (DDS) program makes available free dental treatment around the country to Alumni members and their families who meet one or more of the following:
* Have a permanent disability * Are over the age of 65 * Are medically compromised (includes signs and symptoms of memory loss, joint replacement, and spinal issues)
Craig Swoopes, a Buccaneers’ draft choice in 1986, recently completed the program and is an enthusiastic supporter.
“I encourage all Alumni members who meet the criteria to take advantage of the program,” Swoopes says. “The DDS staff carried me through the entire process and followed up with me on every appointment.
“Before my treatment, my kids would tell me ‘Dad, you’re always grumpy. Why don’t you smile more’. Now I really do smile more…a lot more and when my kids saw my new teeth they couldn’t believe it. What this Dental Lifeline Network program did was not only give my smile back but also give me my life back.”
